Hi Martin, please visit us at www.infiniquesttech.com. Our engine is based on DirectX and SlimDX and fully supports WPF. Though it is designed for Seismic industry, it can work as a GIS map engine just fine. Cheers!

Hi,

Just want to let you know that we now have a new generation of this Map Engine that has a native WPF control. SpatialAce is nowadays called Carmenta Engine and you can read about the new native .Net API and the new WPF control in this document:

http://www.carmenta.com/download/pdf/Introducing_Carmenta_Engine_5_0.pdf

BTW: We are about to release the next version (Carmenta Engine 5.1) that will take our Qt integration to the same level as we have for WPF, that is to say hardware accelerated maps with hardware accelerated user interfaces, transparent UIs etc

Orit,

It's been a year since I wrote the post but I don't think the market has changed much, but I might be wrong as I have not paid close attention.

I gave the task some serious thought, made a small prototyping effort and discussed the matter with some knowledgable colleagues. But as one of them said, you either need to quit your job or your family to make it happen.

I selected to stay with my family and kept my day job.

Hello,
its been ~a year since this post was made and i guess (hope may be a better word) that things have changed since..

i am looking for a GIS with 3D engine for a security management system. We need the engine to provide basic GIS functions but also more advanced features related to: show video on terrain, calculate route, show car progress smoothly, etc.
We also plan to develop our application in WPF but find it difficult to find engines that are native WPF. We sould love to have a tool with the pricing model Martin asks for, but unfortunately, all we see are higher price and also aprice for runtime. we can leave with that...

Do you know of such a tool?
We are looking into Etenix (http://www.eternix.co.il/company.html) - do you know anything about it?
thanks, orit

Hej Thomas :)

Nej, jag har inte fiskat i Bodö men en lillebror till en kompis är i farten uppe i Tromsö, lite längre norrut. Galningarna tar fiskar på över 40 kilo från kajak!
